do something already…enough’s enough

“A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.” {Proverbs 22:3, NLT}

Have you ever been aware of a situation that you know is heading for trouble, but the people involved appear to be doing nothing about it? Frustrating, isn’t it?

And maybe only one side of the situation is actually the root of the {seemingly} impending ‘perfect storm’, but the other side isn’t doing what should be done to prepare for what’s {surely} about to occur. And there’s nothing you can do to change either side.
See No Evil
You can’t make the one side stop.
And you can’t make the other side start.

The tough part being, you know that if someone would just do something, it would {finally} all be…over?…seen for what it really is?…resolved?

But…nothing is being done to prepare.

The one side continues to do something that doesn’t feel right.
The other continues to sit on the sidelines, refusing to take action.

Wrong actions. Inaction. Neither one is correct. Or at least that’s what the Bible says.

The smart man/woman sees something that’s not right and takes action. Does what needs to be done. Makes the necessary arrangements to protect themselves. But the simple person {in usual biblical terms…the non-smart one} covers their eyes and refuses to help themselves. Sitting carelessly by as the bad thing heads their way.

And there you sit….helpless. Because you can’t do a single thing to assist. Because it’s not your situation to take care of. It’s theirs. And for some reason, they have chosen to do nothing, despite the fact that they are headed for some serious rough ‘weather’.

Now I’m not talking about when God places you in a situation for testing or growth. I’m talking about when everyone around you {that can be trusted and respected} is telling you to do something. And that to continue to just sit there, inactive, is only going to result in serious consequences, making you look foolish and clueless.

And you would think that no one would want to be seen like that. Yet each and every day, there are people all over who simply choose to do nothing. And it shows what they really think and expect of everyone around them. Which is, ‘I plan to do nothing so that when this bad situation finally arrives, everyone will see how horrible it is and feel really bad for me. Then maybe they’ll fix it for me. Because, ya know…poor, poor me.’

Except that, that is the last thing that’s {probably} going to happen. Because, frankly, you’re going to look like an idiot. Like either you were so clueless that you couldn’t see the obvious problem when it was dancing right in front of you. Or…that you didn’t care. Or…maybe you were too lazy to do your part.

And, honestly, who wants to help someone that {seemingly} doesn’t want to help themselves? No one. {Well…that’s if they’re actually brave enough to admit it. ;) }

Again, I’m not talking about when God sets the stage for you to grow. Because always in those situations, you are constantly encouraged by everyone around you. People can see {and feel} that God has His hand on you and that good things are headed your way. {And also because you’re doing everything possible that can be done…which is Clue No. 1.}

But that doesn’t happen in these ‘other’ situations. Usually every piece of advice you’re giving is…’enough’s enough’. Do something. Get off your tail-end and take some action. Otherwise you are headed for serious consequences.

And according to the Bible, doing nothing in the face of trouble is the equivalent of not being smart.

    It’s a very helpless feeling, being an onlooker like that. One can only hope people learn from their mistakes.

      I know. I hope so, too, but…not so sure right now. And I know that prayer works, but prayer needs our cooperation sometimes, ya know? oh well. Thanks for commenting!
