God did it…to show His glory

“Then the Lord said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perform these signs of mine among them…” {Exodus 10:1, NIV}

Achings“But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart…” {Exodus 10:27, NIV}

“Moses and Aaron performed these miracles in Pharaoh’s presence, but the LORD hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he wouldn’t let the Israelites leave the country.” {Exodus 11:10, NLT}

My morning readings have recently included these chapters, and, while I haven’t counted, it seems as though over-and-over I have read the words ‘the Lord hardened Pharoah’s heart’.

Which would seem the opposite of what you would expect the Almighty God to do. Why would He do that repeatedly? Why did Moses have to go before Pharoah time-after-time, asking him to release the Israelites only to get rejected with each and every request?

What was God thinking?

{Oh, yeah. I remember.} God said in Exodus 10:1 what He was thinking. “…so that I may perform these signs of Mine among them…”.

What seemed like rejection-after-rejection, failure-after-failure, denied-request after denied-request was really God just setting the stage for His big finale.

And He loves His finales.

Because they never fail to amaze, wow, terrify, and render those around…speechless.

God will get the glory from your situation. {That is, if you don’t quit before He’s ready.} He is sovereign and He allows no one to share His glory with Him. No one.

God's GloryNot even you. His most beloved creation.

He is God. You are not.
He is in charge. You are not.
He opens doors. You do not.
He makes a way. You cannot.
He does the miracle. You do not.
He provides the finances. You do not.
He brings healing. You cannot.

He knows more than you. Get over it.

Trust Him. Thank Him. Believe Him.

If God hardened Pharoah’s heart, something tells me that He just might also be the cause of the ‘hard hearts’ in your situation.

But why would He appear to just be setting you up for rejection over-and-over?

Ah. {Glad you asked.} Let’s read Exodus 10:1 again.

“…so that I may perform these signs of Mine among them…”

Remember?  It’s really not about you. :( {Although if you would simply relax in His hands, He might do something great in you as well during this process.}

It’s all about Him.

His glory.
His ability.
His might.
His provision.
His way.
His thoughts.
His plan.

He wins. Every time.

And so will you. If you don’t give up.

“This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover.” {Exodus 12:11, NIV}

I know you’re weary. {Me, too.} I know you’re so discouraged. {Right with ya.} I know you can’t see any way your situation could improve. {sigh…yeah, I know.}

But get ready.

Tuck your shirt in.
Pull your belt tight.
Put your shoes on.
And grab your purse {or backpack}.

When He moves, it’ll be quick. And it’ll be time to go.
